Head of Total Reward and Payroll

About the role

This senior leadership position heads the Total Reward function for a European business of roughly 1,300 employees. You will oversee compensation, benefits and payroll, working closely with HR, Finance and senior business leaders while managing a small specialist team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead total reward strategy across compensation, benefits and payroll for Europe.
• Manage and develop a team of three specialists covering payroll, compensation and reward analytics.
• Own annual reward cycles – salary reviews, bonus programmes, benefits renewals, benchmarking and Gender Pay Gap reporting.
• Drive strategic projects such as pay‑transparency, reward governance and process improvements.
• Partner with HR, Finance and senior leadership to provide expert guidance and ensure operational excellence of international payroll.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading a Total Reward, Compensation & Benefits or Reward & Payroll function.
• Previous people‑management experience with a focus on coaching and development.
• Deep knowledge of compensation, benefits and international payroll.
• Familiarity with HRIS systems, preferably Workday.
• Understanding of pay‑transparency legislation and reward governance.
• Professional qualification such as CIPD, CIPP or equivalent is preferred.
