Heavy Vehicle Service & Maintenance Apprentice

About the role

Grundon is seeking a motivated Heavy Vehicle Service & Maintenance Apprentice to join its Banbury workshop. Working under the Workshop Manager and a partner college, you will combine classroom learning with hands‑on experience to achieve a Level 3 HGV Maintenance apprenticeship.

Key responsibilities

• Attend college sessions and complete required training modules.
• Maintain accurate records of training progress and vehicle work.
• Prepare vehicles daily, ensuring they are clean and ready for scheduled maintenance.
• Assist senior technicians with vehicle inspections, breakdown repairs, and routine servicing of the company fleet.
• Safely store and use workshop tools and equipment.
• Follow company safety procedures, SOPs and risk assessments at all times.
• Provide occasional cover at other sites and adapt to flexible working hours when needed.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic, dynamic and eager to develop a career in heavy‑vehicle maintenance.
• Willing to learn under supervision and follow structured apprenticeship guidelines.
• Ability to work safely, follow procedures and maintain a clean work environment.
• Flexibility to work varied hours and occasional site cover.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) systems and components.
• Vehicle inspection and breakdown repair techniques.
• Use of workshop tools and equipment.
• Understanding of safety procedures, SOPs and risk assessments.
