Homelessness Prevention Tenancy Relations Officer (Temporary)

About the role

Our client is seeking a dedicated professional to join the Homelessness, Independence and Prevention Service (HIPS) and deliver specialist private‑rented tenancy advice. The role protects households facing eviction, repossession, disrepair, landlord harassment and affordability challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Provide housing advice to private‑rented tenants in‑person and remotely across the borough.
• Maintain a caseload while supporting HIPS on broader tenancy issues.
• Collaborate with landlords, tenants and partner agencies to prevent homelessness.
• Navigate complex legislation such as the Renters’ Rights Act 2025 and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 to identify misuse of possession grounds and secure adjournments.
• Communicate tenants’ and landlords’ rights and responsibilities clearly and tactfully.
• Negotiate and problem‑solve to achieve positive outcomes for both parties.

Required profile

• Experience delivering front‑line homelessness support.
• Proven ability to work with landlords, tenants and partner agencies.
• Comprehensive understanding of the Housing Act 1996, Renters’ Rights Act 2025 and Protection from Eviction Act 1977.
• Track record of investigating legislative breaches, making statutory decisions and producing legally robust reports.
