Housing Solutions Officer (Temporary, Hybrid)

About the role

Adecco is recruiting experienced Housing Solutions Officers for a fast‑paced Housing Demand team within a London local authority. This three‑month temporary position focuses on preventing and relieving homelessness while delivering effective housing outcomes for vulnerable residents.

Key responsibilities

• Assess homelessness applications in line with the Housing Act 1996 and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
• Make legally sound decisions on eligibility, priority need and intentionality.
• Provide early‑intervention casework, interview and advise customers at risk of homelessness.
• Negotiate with landlords and partner agencies to secure sustainable accommodation.
• Liaise with internal departments, legal services and external agencies to achieve positive outcomes.
• Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with statutory duties.
• Identify safeguarding concerns and support vulnerable households appropriately.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Housing Officer within a local authority or similar environment.
• Strong knowledge of the Housing Act 1996, Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and relevant case law.
• Ability to manage complex caseloads and meet strict statutory deadlines.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and problem‑solving skills.
• Customer‑focused, empathetic and resilient.

Required skills

• Knowledge of UK housing legislation and case law.
