HR Advisor – Employee Relations (Contract, Remote)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced HR Advisor to provide hands‑on employee‑relations support to managers across the North East. The role is primarily remote, with one day per week based in Stockton‑on‑Tees and occasional travel to operational sites. It is an interim contract of 3‑4 months, offering a day rate up to £250.

Key responsibilities

• Advise managers on UK employment law and internal policies.
• Manage complex employee‑relations cases end‑to‑end, including disciplinary, grievance, capability and absence matters.
• Lead investigations, review evidence and produce investigation reports.
• Coach managers through formal processes and ensure procedural compliance.
• Draft policy and procedure documentation, invitation letters, outcome letters and related correspondence.
• Support long‑term sickness cases, occupational health referrals and reasonable adjustments.
• Maintain accurate case records in line with internal documentation standards.
• Identify and flag potential employment risks, escalating significant issues to the Head of People & Practices.

Required profile

• CIPD Level 5 (or equivalent) qualification or higher.
• Minimum five years’ experience in a P&P/HR advisory or employee‑relations role.
• Strong, up‑to‑date knowledge of UK employment legislation.
• Proven ability to manage complex ER cases from inception to resolution.
• Excellent written communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel when required.

Required skills

• Ability to conduct and report on investigations.
