Interim Tax Project Leader

About the role

This is a 3‑month fixed‑term opportunity for an experienced tax professional to lead a high‑profile project improving international tax processes, governance and compliance. The role is hybrid, requiring two days per week on site in West London.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement robust processes for handling UK and international tax queries.
• Develop country‑specific tax risk frameworks to support commercial and finance teams.
• Collaborate with external advisers to standardise contractual tax clauses and documentation.
• Review international activities to assess and mitigate Permanent Establishment risk.
• Lead improvements to VAT reporting, HMRC certification and withholding tax reclaim processes.
• Update the International Tax Manual, policies and governance procedures.
• Coordinate tax awareness training for finance, legal and commercial stakeholders.
• Produce analysis and recommendations on alternative financial models from a tax perspective.

Required profile

• ACA/ICAEW qualification with audit experience at a Big Four or Top 10 firm.
• Extensive experience managing complex UK and international tax matters, including VAT.
• Proven track record of delivering tax transformation or project‑based assignments.
• Strong knowledge of tax governance, risk management and process improvement.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively and meet tight deadlines.
