Joinery Workshop Operative – Bespoke Manufacturing

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Joinery Workshop Operative to join our bespoke manufacturing team in Chester. The role involves hands‑on production of high‑end custom joinery, from machining to final assembly and finishing, under the guidance of the Workshop Supervisor.

Key responsibilities

• Operate a range of woodworking machinery including beam saws, CNC routers and edgebanders.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and job sheets to assemble components accurately.
• Prepare, sand and finish products, fitting hardware to meet exact specifications.
• Conduct quality checks to ensure dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
• Select, cut and handle materials such as hardwoods, softwoods, MDF, laminates and veneers.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment, adhering to health‑and‑safety policies.
• Collaborate with the Workshop Supervisor and team to meet production deadlines.

• Proven experience in a joinery or woodworking workshop.
• Reliability, proactive attitude and strong work ethic.
• Attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
• Good communication skills and ability to work within a team.
• Punctual, organised and capable of meeting deadlines.

Required skills
