Learning Support Assistant – Full‑time (Colchester)

About the role

The Learning Support Assistant (LSA) will work on a full‑time basis in a primary school in Colchester, supporting pupils with special educational needs (SEN) and assisting the classroom teacher. The role runs Monday to Friday and offers a long‑term supply contract.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to pupils with SEN.
• Assist the teacher with lesson preparation and delivery.
• Help manage and de‑escalate challenging behaviour in the classroom.
• Monitor pupil progress and maintain relevant records.
• Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Required profile

• Previous experience working in a classroom setting.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEN.
• Comfortable handling challenging behaviour.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
• Two professional child‑related references.

Required skills

• No specific technical skills required.
