Learning Support Assistant – Primary Schools (Colchester)

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking Learning Support Assistants to support pupils with special educational needs and mental health challenges (SEN/SEMH) in primary schools across the Colchester area, starting September 2026. The role can be part‑time or full‑time, offering flexible hours within the school day.

Key responsibilities

• Provide targeted assistance to pupils with SEN/SEMH, supporting their learning and wellbeing.
• Work closely with classroom teachers to implement individualized support plans.
• Monitor and record pupil progress, reporting observations to senior staff.
• Assist in preparing learning materials and adapting resources as needed.
• Maintain a safe and inclusive classroom environment.

Required profile

• Experience working with children who have SEN/SEMH is essential.
• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant is highly desirable.
• Minimum GCSE grade C in English and Maths.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one) and two professional child‑related references.
