Maintenance Assistant – Luxury Residential Development

About the role

A permanent, full-time Maintenance Assistant is needed to support the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of a luxury residential development of about 90 apartments in Putney, South West London. The role covers general repairs, preventative maintenance, communal inspections and contractor assistance, reporting to the Maintenance Manager or Property Manager. Hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm with a one-hour unpaid lunch.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day maintenance and repairs, including basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, decorating and general handyman tasks
• Respond to reactive maintenance requests and report more complex issues to the Maintenance Manager
• Support planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks and routine building checks, including lighting, doors, fixtures and fittings
• Maintain basic maintenance records and assist with routine health and safety checks
• Provide access and assistance to external contractors and help prepare work areas after repairs
• Organise maintenance materials, tools and supplies and support the Maintenance Manager with site operations
• Maintain communal areas to a high standard of cleanliness and safety, and respond professionally to resident enquiries

Required profile

• At least 1 year of hands-on maintenance experience in a residential, commercial, hospitality or similar environment
• Must live locally to Putney with a manageable commute
• Physically active and comfortable doing practical maintenance work
• Reliable, punctual, hardworking and attentive to detail, with a willingness to learn

Required skills

• Basic hands-on repair skills in plumbing, carpentry, decorating or handyman duties
• Good understanding of safe working practices and basic health and safety
• Desirable: previous experience in residential developments or managed buildings, and relevant qualifications such as City & Guilds or NVQ
