Maintenance Supervisor – Hands‑on HVAC & Plant

About the role
We are looking for a technically strong, hands‑on Maintenance Supervisor to join a brand‑new flagship student accommodation development in London. Working closely with the Maintenance Manager, you will lead a small team while remaining actively involved in plant, HVAC and mechanical maintenance to ensure the asset runs smoothly from day one.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and support a small team of Maintenance Operatives, allocating tasks and monitoring performance.
- Perform hands‑on planned and reactive maintenance on HVAC, plant rooms and mechanical systems.
- Diagnose and resolve faults in fan coil units, pumps, ventilation and other building plant.
- Carry out routine inspections of plant rooms, communal areas and building services.
- Support compliance activities including fire safety, Legionella testing and health & safety procedures.
- Liaise with contractors to ensure safe, high‑quality delivery of works.
- Maintain accurate records in CAFM systems and ensure completion of all tasks.
- Collaborate with front‑of‑house and wider teams to deliver a high‑quality resident experience.
- Provide backup support to the Maintenance Manager as required.
Required profile
- Experience in a maintenance, facilities or building services role within residential, student accommodation, hotel or commercial environments.
- Strong hands‑on technical capability, especially with HVAC systems, pumps and plant rooms.
- Some leadership or supervisory experience, or a clear desire to step into a supervisory role.
- Good understanding of health & safety, compliance and building systems.
- Ability to take ownership, prioritize tasks and work effectively under pressure.
