Management Accountant / Finance Manager – Glasgow

About the role

This permanent position supports a commercial installation firm in Glasgow, overseeing the finance function across three SME entities. The role is ideal for a candidate with solid management accounting experience in an SME environment who is keen to develop their career in a supportive, close‑knit team.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and deliver cash‑flow analysis.
• Handle purchase and sales invoicing and manage the transactional finance function.
• Review debtor balances monthly and chase outstanding debts to resolution.
• Post month‑end journals, including accruals, pre‑payments, payroll, fixed‑asset depreciation and inter‑company allocations.
• Conduct cost‑vs‑budget variance analysis and produce P&L reports for directors.
• Control credit‑card usage and petty‑cash processes.
• Perform quarterly balance‑sheet reconciliations and VAT returns.
• Manage CIS deductions and submit required information to HMRC.
• Monitor stock purchasing, execute monthly stock takes and process related stock journals.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a similar management accounting or finance manager role within an SME.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare management accounts, budgets and forecasts.
• Strong organisational and interpersonal skills with the confidence to build stakeholder relationships.
• Experience liaising with external accountants and handling statutory reporting.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Xero (or equivalent accounting software).
• Advanced Excel skills.
