Manager, Customs and Foreign Trade

About the role

Ryan is investing in the growth of its Customs and Foreign Trade practice and is looking for a Manager to help build one of the market's leading teams. The role works with clients across many industries, helping them navigate international trade challenges while optimising operations, managing risk, generating savings and creating value. It is based in Manchester or London.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver quality customs and foreign trade services to clients across multiple industries and sectors.
• Manage client engagements from scoping through to delivery.
• Build trusted relationships with client stakeholders and identify opportunities to expand services.
• Support the development of innovative, technology-enabled and scalable client solutions.
• Contribute to thought leadership, market profile and business development initiatives.
• Coach and develop junior team members.
• Work collaboratively across service lines and international teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Help shape the future direction of a rapidly growing practice.

Required profile

• Significant experience in customs and international trade advisory, in consultancy, industry, government or a related environment.
• Experience managing client relationships and delivering complex projects.
• Desirable: experience beyond traditional customs advisory, such as excise duties, CBAM and EUDR, trade remedies, export controls and sanctions, brokerage and customs filing, or digital solutions and data analytics.

Required skills

• Strong technical knowledge of customs regulations, compliance and international trade frameworks, including classification, valuation, origin, reliefs and special procedures.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Commercial awareness and a collaborative approach.
