Mechanical Engineer – Turbine Island

About the role

Join Assystem's Fusion and Modular Nuclear Business Unit as a Mechanical Engineer focused on Turbine Island design. You will work within a multi‑disciplinary team to develop, verify and integrate turbine island solutions for advanced nuclear power projects.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure supplier deliverables meet technical and safety requirements.
• Develop, review and check design documentation together with senior engineers.
• Support design development, optioneering studies and systems‑engineering activities.
• Integrate the Turbine Island design into the overall power‑plant infrastructure.
• Engage with stakeholders, attend design reviews and guarantee compliance with safety and quality standards.

Required profile

• Minimum 2:1 BEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Relevant senior engineering experience in offshore, renewables, nuclear or other highly regulated sectors.
• Solid background in mechanical and structural engineering.
• Familiarity with European and offshore standards (Eurocode 3, DNV).
• Eligibility for UK security clearance.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD tools: Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, Catia.
• Strong mathematical modelling using MathCAD.
• Finite Element Analysis expertise, preferably with ANSYS Workbench.
• Experience in non‑linear and fatigue FEA, Eurocode 3 and DNV design checks.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as welding and machining.
