Mechanical Site Manager – Healthcare Infrastructure

About the role

We are seeking a highly technical, mechanically‑focused Site Manager to lead a major infrastructure modernisation and commissioning package at a prominent healthcare facility in Greater London. The role operates under a Tier 1 contractor framework and involves overseeing critical plant rooms, live‑environment upgrades, and system integrations, with a particular focus on legacy steam boiler systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mechanical delivery and commissioning for HVAC, public health, plant rooms, and legacy steam distribution installations through to final handover.
• Coordinate complex engineering works within an active healthcare environment, implementing mitigation strategies for dust, noise, and vibration while protecting clinical zones.
• Supervise multi‑disciplinary mechanical trades, commissioning engineers, and specialist sub‑contractors on‑site.
• Manage stakeholder communication, ensuring system shutdowns and switchovers are risk‑assessed and safely executed.
• Conduct site inspections, handle non‑conformance reports (NCRs), process RFIs, and perform technical snagging.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an M&E Site Manager, Commissioning Manager or TSM with direct work on historic steam‑powered boilers.
• Strong track record delivering projects within operational healthcare facilities, life‑science labs or high‑volatility pharmaceutical settings.
• High competence reading complex design drawings, adjusting layouts, managing asset information and resolving deep‑rooted engineering defects on‑site.
• Deep awareness of Health Technical Memoranda (HTMs), strict safety protocols and live‑environment risk management.
