Personal Tax Manager – Advisory

About the role

Butler Rose is supporting a growing accountancy practice in Manchester to recruit a Personal Tax Manager for its advisory team. The successful candidate will own a large personal tax portfolio and help shape the direction of the tax function.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of 300‑350 personal tax clients, delivering compliance and advisory services.
• Provide advice on Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance Tax, Income Tax, residence & domicile issues and broader tax planning.
• Build trusted, long‑term relationships and act as the primary point of contact for clients.
• Identify tax planning opportunities and deliver clear, practical recommendations.
• Review personal tax returns to ensure full compliance with HMRC requirements.
• Lead, mentor and support junior tax team members.
• Collaborate with Directors on complex advisory projects and contribute to departmental growth.

Required profile

• CTA or ATT qualification highly beneficial; qualified by experience candidates are encouraged to apply.
• Significant experience in UK personal tax within an accountancy practice.
• Strong personal tax advisory expertise.
• Proven experience managing a client portfolio.
• Team‑management or supervisory experience.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
