Platform Engineering Resource Manager

About the role

Sixworks is seeking a Platform Engineering Resource Manager to lead a large team of engineers working on secure digital solutions for defence and national security missions. The role combines people management with a solid understanding of platform engineering to ensure the right talent is applied to the right projects.

Key responsibilities

• People Leadership: conduct 1:1s, support career development, set objectives, manage performance, mentor, coach, and recruit new engineers.
• Operational Oversight: balance workload priorities, drive delivery excellence, develop and fund tooling for the engineering team.
• Stakeholder Management: act as the primary contact for project managers, operations, and service leadership, communicating resource constraints, risks, and priorities.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing technical teams and coaching engineers.
• Strong leadership, communication, organisational and planning abilities.
• Excellent people‑management and data‑driven decision‑making skills.
• Ability to stay calm under operational pressure.
• Background in engineering or technical project management.
• Curiosity and strong problem‑solving mindset.
