Primary Teaching Assistant – Term Time (Full‑time/Part‑time)

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Tower Hamlets. The role is term‑time only and offers both full‑time and part‑time options, starting in September 2026. You will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to support the learning and wellbeing of all pupils.

Key responsibilities

• Support teaching and learning across the primary age range.
• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group assistance for pupils needing extra help.
• Work with children who have SEN needs such as Autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social‑emotional challenges.
• Help create an inclusive, engaging, and positive classroom environment.
• Assist with behaviour management and promote pupil wellbeing.
• Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence and academic progress.

Required profile

• Experience working with primary‑aged children.
• Willingness to support or develop knowledge of SEN.
• Patience, empathy and strong communication skills.
• Positive team player with a proactive attitude.
• Relevant qualifications or experience in education, childcare or support work (desirable but not essential).

Required skills

• Ability to support pupils with a range of SEN needs (e.g., Autism, ADHD, speech & language, social‑emotional).
• Competence in behaviour management techniques.
• Capability to work collaboratively with teachers and SENCO.
