Principal EC&I Engineer

About the role

The Principal EC&I Engineer will lead the Electrical, Control & Instrumentation engineering elements of assigned projects, overseeing design from concept through to manufacture, testing and hand‑over. This senior position works closely with project managers, technical leadership and multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliant, high‑quality solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and deliver EC&I engineering activities across allocated projects.
• Support Project Managers to ensure designs meet project, technical and regulatory requirements.
• Produce EC&I designs and technical documentation from concept to validation and hand‑over.
• Manage and review EC&I outputs from sub‑contractors for compliance with standards and specifications.
• Conduct peer reviews of internal and external EC&I deliverables.
• Provide technical input for commercial and estimating activities.
• Witness factory acceptance tests (FAT) and support project sign‑off.
• Liaise with clients, suppliers and third parties as required.

Required profile

• HNC/HND in an Engineering discipline (essential); Engineering degree (BEng/MSc) desirable.
• Strong knowledge of engineering delivery processes and change control.
• Experience in EC&I engineering design from concept to detail.
• Ability to perform EC&I engineering calculations.
• Experience managing or participating in design reviews.
• Proficiency with 2D/3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks.
• Knowledge of technical document control, configuration and issue management.
• Experience producing technical reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Understanding of relevant industry standards and regulations.
