Product Owner

About the role

The Product Owner will own the HMA Tax "Globe" platform, ensuring it aligns with business needs and supports growth. This role bridges business and technology, providing clear, prioritized direction to the remote development team in Kuala Lumpur.

Key responsibilities

• Business understanding and discovery (approx. 20%) – map client journeys and capture requirements.
• Product ownership and prioritisation (approx. 25%) – manage the backlog, set priorities and define road‑maps.
• Delivery direction for the KL team (approx. 25%) – lead sprint ceremonies, review code and ensure timely delivery.
• Documentation and knowledge management (approx. 15%) – maintain product knowledge, create and update documentation.
• Governance, reporting and compliance (approx. 15%) – monitor KPIs, ensure regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• Experience as a product owner or product manager on a live, business‑critical system, preferably internal to operational teams.
• Proven ability to direct remote/offshore development teams across time zones.
• Technical background sufficient to read code, understand data models, APIs and integrations.
• Willingness to quickly learn capital allowances and property‑based taxation concepts.
• Strong agile practice: backlog management, story writing, acceptance criteria and sprint ceremonies.

Required skills

• Agile tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
• Understanding of APIs, data models and software integrations.
• Ability to read and discuss code with engineers.
• Clear written and verbal communication, especially with non‑native English speakers.
