Quality Operations Manager

About the role

The Quality Operations Manager will lead the quality function for a well‑established manufacturing organisation in Wigan. Reporting to senior management, you will drive operational excellence, ensure regulatory compliance and embed a culture of continuous improvement across the site.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day quality operations and implement robust quality frameworks.
• Lead audits, inspections and compliance reviews to meet internal and external standards.
• Analyse quality data, identify trends and drive performance improvements.
• Collaborate with production, engineering and supply‑chain teams to resolve quality issues.
• Manage customer feedback and ensure timely resolution of quality concerns.
• Develop, mentor and grow the quality team to achieve business objectives.
• Maintain and improve quality documentation, systems and processes.
• Coordinate supplier quality standards and monitor raw‑material performance.
• Lead product testing, validation and inspection activities.
• Deliver regular quality reports and insights to senior management.
• Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives using Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering, Quality or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Recognised quality certification (e.g., CQI).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior quality role within manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of QMS frameworks such as ISO 9001.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑functional improvement projects.
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder‑influence skills.
