Seasonal Watersports Instructor – Lake Windermere

About the role

Windermere Outdoor Adventure is seeking a seasonal Watersports Instructor to lead groups on Lake Windermere. You will deliver high‑quality water‑based activities for children and adults while ensuring safety and excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Lead independent water‑sport sessions for schools, youth groups, holiday courses and private clients.
• Develop new session ideas and help expand the client base.
• Hire out kayaks and paddleboards, manage the hire centre and cover senior staff when absent.
• Provide clear safety briefings and uphold health‑and‑safety standards.
• Perform routine maintenance, admin tasks and general cleaning as part of the team.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year experience leading groups on larger lakes.
• At least 1 year experience with health‑and‑safety risk management in an outdoor setting.
• Current understanding of RYA and British Canoeing qualifications.
• Confident, enthusiastic and able to speak to large groups.

Required skills

• RYA Level 2 Powerboat
• British Canoeing Paddlesport Leader (BCU/UKCC Level 2)
• 16‑hour First Aid
• Safeguarding Level 1
• RYA Dingy Instructor
