SEN Teaching Assistant (Full‑time)

About the role

A specialist SEN secondary school in Oldham is looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated support to pupils with a wide range of additional needs. The role is full‑time and involves working closely with teachers and pastoral staff throughout the school day.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with SEN.
• Implement behaviour support strategies in line with Team Teach principles.
• Assist pupils with engagement, focus, emotional regulation and transitions between lessons.
• Promote positive behaviour, structure and routine across classes and year groups.
• Collaborate with teachers, SEN staff and pastoral teams to deliver consistent support.
• Maintain high standards of safeguarding and professionalism.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with pupils with SEND.
• Confidence supporting behaviour and emotional needs.
• Ability to work consistently within behaviour support frameworks.
• Calm, resilient and adaptable with strong communication skills.
• Desirable: Team Teach training, MIDAS training, experience in SEN secondary schools, PRUs or alternative provisions.
