Additional Needs Assistant – SEN Primary School

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Additional Needs Assistant to support pupils with a range of special educational needs in an SEN primary school in Oldham. The role starts in September 2026 and is full‑time, Monday‑Friday, providing vital one‑to‑one and small‑group assistance both inside and outside the classroom.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH, learning difficulties and other developmental delays.
• Use creative, engaging strategies to promote learning, communication and social interaction.
• Assist pupils with emotional regulation and encourage positive behaviours.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and families to ensure coordinated support.
• Help create a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.

Required profile

• Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs in school or comparable settings.
• Calm, patient, resilient and able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Passionate about making a long‑term impact on children’s lives.
• Ability to adapt approaches to meet individual needs.
