Senior Accountant – Hertford (5 days on site)

About the role

We are seeking a commercially‑minded Senior Accountant to join a fast‑growing, privately owned business in Hertford. The role offers genuine exposure to senior leadership and the chance to influence strategic decisions while working on a broad, hands‑on finance agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Own the management accounts, budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Deliver insightful financial reporting and analysis to support commercial decisions.
• Build and develop robust financial models, providing meaningful business insights.
• Identify financial and operational risks and recommend practical solutions.
• Partner closely with senior stakeholders across the business.
• Support strategic projects alongside the Finance Director.
• Lead, mentor and develop junior members of the finance team.
• Drive continuous improvement across financial processes and controls.

Required profile

• Fully qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
• Proven experience as a Senior Accountant or as the number two to a Finance Director.
• Strong commercial awareness with confidence to challenge and influence stakeholders.
• Previous experience managing and developing team members.
• Proactive, analytical and naturally curious approach.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel skills.
• Experience building and interrogating complex financial models.
