Senior IT Project Manager (Hybrid, Crewe)

About the role

We are seeking a seasoned Senior IT Project Manager to join a prestigious automotive company on a hybrid basis (2‑3 days onsite per week) in Crewe, Cheshire. The role focuses on delivering large‑scale IT projects using a classic Waterfall approach, with responsibility for end‑to‑end project delivery until year‑end and beyond.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, set up and launch IT projects and programmes, preparing resource estimates and investment forecasts.
• Create and maintain budgets, raise release requests and support investment planning.
• Develop work breakdown structures (WBS) and translate them into schedules with critical paths identified.
• Coordinate procurement, onboard project team members and secure necessary resources.
• Apply the appropriate project management methodology and oversee execution, monitoring, and control.
• Lead risk and issue management, ensuring timely escalation and resolution.
• Manage scope changes through formal decision forums.
• Track project expenditure, monitor benefits realisation and validate business cases throughout the lifecycle.
• Deliver project gateways, validate technical designs and ensure successful project closure with lessons learned.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering IT projects end‑to‑end using Waterfall methodology.
• Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with sponsors, stakeholders and project teams.
• Excellent organisational skills with a track record of managing budgets and schedules.
• Experience in risk, issue and change management within complex environments.
