Service Support Worker

About the role

The British Red Cross is looking for a Service Support Worker to join its Health and Care team in Aberdeenshire, providing personal, emotional and practical support to adults in their own homes or community. The role suits people who are patient, caring and good with others, and no formal care experience is needed. It covers Garioch, Formartine, Buchan and Fraserburgh, with travel around the area.

Key responsibilities

• Provide personal, emotional and practical support to adults in their own homes or community
• Help service users with daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, meal preparation and medication
• Liaise with health and social care professionals to ensure consistent, high-quality care
• Promote safety and wellbeing through risk assessments and welfare checks

Required profile

• Excellent communication skills and a caring, respectful approach
• Experience supporting people with physical, sensory or mental health needs
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends
• Willingness to register with the Scottish Social Security Council (SSSC) within 3 months of starting
• Car driver with access to a vehicle; business mileage is reimbursed at 55p per mile

Required skills

• Knowledge of community care resources and risk assessments
• Registration with the SSSC within 3 months of starting
