Shift Lead

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Team Leader to join our Blackpool site as a Shift Lead. In this 24/7 manufacturing environment you will combine hands‑on technical expertise with strong people leadership to ensure reliability, performance and continuous improvement of one of the UK’s largest food production operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of multi‑skilled mechanical and electrical engineers.
• Plan, prioritise and coordinate both planned and reactive maintenance activities.
• Collaborate closely with production, contractors and support functions to align engineering priorities with operational demand.
• Champion health & safety, food safety, engineering compliance and best practice standards.
• Promote a proactive engineering culture focused on reliability, teamwork and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Time‑served Mechanical or Electrical Engineer with strong technical knowledge and practical engineering experience.
• Previous leadership, supervisory or management experience in a manufacturing or production setting.
• Experience in fast‑moving consumer goods (FMCG) or food manufacturing environments is advantageous.
• IOSH qualification and food safety or hygiene qualifications are beneficial.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and decision‑making abilities.
