About the role
We are looking for an experienced Shift Manager to lead a high‑volume, regulated manufacturing line in Bolton. You will be responsible for end‑to‑end shift performance, ensuring production targets, quality standards and compliance are consistently met.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and supervise all production activities during the shift, aligning with build schedules and pre‑SOP readiness.
- Lead, motivate and develop the manufacturing team, conducting performance reviews and addressing staffing issues.
- Ensure product quality, responding quickly to defects or process issues.
- Monitor KPIs such as output, yield and efficiency, and report performance to senior management.
- Oversee equipment use, troubleshoot issues to minimise downtime and maximise productivity.
- Resolve operational challenges including bottlenecks, equipment failures or supply‑chain disruptions.
- Maintain compliance with industry standards, environmental regulations and internal policies.
- Drive continuous improvement through lean manufacturing and process optimisation initiatives.
- Mentor Production Team Members, embedding lean thinking and accountability.
- Act as senior site contact during out‑of‑hours periods, supporting wider business needs.
Required profile
- 5+ years’ experience in production or shift management within a manufacturing environment (electronics or automotive preferred).
- Strong knowledge of IATF 16949, PPAP, APQP and FMEA.
- Proven experience implementing lean manufacturing, Six Sigma or similar continuous‑improvement tools.
- Experience coordinating cross‑functional teams and working with OEM customers.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
