Social Housing Audit Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced audit professional with a passion for the social purpose sector to join a leading UK provider of audit and assurance services. The role will focus on social housing and related not‑for‑profit organisations, delivering high‑quality audit work and building lasting client relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of external audit clients across social housing and the wider social purpose sector, providing proactive year‑round service.
• Lead multiple audit teams, ensuring engagements are planned, executed and completed within agreed budgets and timescales.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, owning service delivery and relationship management throughout the year.
• Prepare and present audit reports to senior management, audit committees and boards.
• Coach, mentor and develop audit team members to ensure effective delivery of engagements.
• Plan and prioritise own workload and client engagements, balancing competing priorities.
• Contribute to business development by maintaining a professional network and supporting proposals for new work.
• Identify opportunities to offer wider assurance services and participate in firm‑wide knowledge‑sharing activities.

Required profile

• Qualified ACA, ACCA, ICAS or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
• Strong technical knowledge of auditing and accounting standards.
• Proven experience managing audit engagements from planning through to completion, on time and within budget.
• Confident people‑management skills with experience coaching and mentoring audit staff.
