Software Quality Engineer – Defence & Aerospace

About the role

This permanent position is based in Havant and supports a market‑leading defence and aerospace organisation. You will act as the Lead Software Quality Assurance representative, ensuring compliance with regulatory and third‑party certifications across a range of programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead software quality assurance for Systems Solutions Support and advise on regulatory certifications.
• Provide QA oversight for C6Cyber functional area, helicopter mission systems, and other aviation platforms.
• Inspect and accept modifications/upgrades across Training Logistic Systems.
• Manage QA across Integrated Warfare Systems, Sensors and the CADMID lifecycle.
• Plan, arrange and support external audits and liaise with industry, government and military QA staff.

Required profile

• Qualification in software design, engineering or computer science (NVQ Level 4/ONC or higher).
• Lead auditor certification for AS9100 or ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 2000, ISO 27001).
• Experience in software development and software quality assurance.
• Knowledge of ISO 20000 (IT Service Management) and ISO 27001 (Information Security).
• Familiarity with UK MoD programmes, MAA regulatory publications and Allied Quality Assurance Publications.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt qualification.
