Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher – Aylesbury

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate SEN Teacher to join a specialist provision in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. You will support pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism and complex learning difficulties, focusing on holistic development and personalised learning pathways.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver tailored lessons that meet individual SEN requirements.
• Assess pupils’ abilities, monitor progress and adapt strategies accordingly.
• Create and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) with clear learning targets.
• Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists and external professionals.
• Foster an inclusive, supportive and safe classroom environment.
• Utilise a variety of teaching methods, including sensory and practical activities.
• Communicate regularly with parents/carers about progress and wellbeing.
• Support pupils’ social, emotional and behavioural development alongside academic learning.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Relevant degree (e.g., Education, Psychology or subject specialism).
• Experience working with children or young people with SEN.
• Strong understanding of learning difficulties such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia.
• Knowledge of SEN legislation and frameworks, including the SEND Code of Practice.
• Patience, empathy and strong communication skills.
• Experience collaborating with parents, support staff and external professionals.
