Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Full‑Time (Temporary)

About the role

This temporary full‑time position supports an outstanding school in Ilford, working directly with pupils who have learning difficulties, complex behaviours, and physical or sensory disabilities. You will help create a safe, engaging environment where each child can thrive throughout the academic year.

Key responsibilities

• Support structured routines and personalised learning activities.
• Assist pupils in regulating emotions and feeling safe.
• Encourage communication using verbal and non‑verbal methods.
• Collaborate closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff.
• Maintain a calm, consistent, and engaging classroom space.

Required profile

• Experience supporting autism or additional needs is ideal.
• A calm, nurturing approach with a good sense of humour.
• Proactive, observant, and genuinely invested in pupil progress.
• Confidence working as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn, adapt, and grow.
