Staff Bank Nursing Role for Retiring NHS Ayrshire & Arran Staff

About the role

This position is for current NHS Ayrshire & Arran employees who are planning to retire or voluntarily leave a substantive nursing post and wish to join the NHS Staff Bank. Successful applicants will be placed on the external Nurse Bank at Band 5, 6 or 7 and will provide flexible nursing cover across the Trust.

Key responsibilities

• Provide registered nursing care on a temporary, as‑needed basis.
• Cover shifts and staffing gaps in line with NHS standards.
• Maintain accurate records of work undertaken for the Staff Bank.
• Adhere to all Trust policies, including infection control and patient safety.

Required profile

• Current substantive role within NHS Ayrshire & Arran (Band 5, 6 or 7).
• Planning to retire or voluntarily terminate your post within the next month (or terminated within the past month).
• Valid National Insurance number to confirm employment status.
• One reference from your current line manager.
• Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.
