Strategic Development Manager - Private Clients

About the role
As a member of the GB Retail team, you will lead the generation of new business opportunities for Private Clients, delivering high‑quality personal insurance solutions to mid‑ and high‑net‑worth individuals. This sales‑focused position requires a proactive, commercially minded professional with strong networking and relationship‑building capabilities.
Key responsibilities
- Identify, develop and convert new business opportunities across the Private Client proposition.
- Drive new business sales, lead generation and revenue growth.
- Source opportunities through personal networks, existing clients, corporate relationships, professional introducers and wider Group business units.
- Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships to generate referrals and new business.
- Use client data, market insight and commercial intelligence to identify and develop prospects.
- Own and manage the lead pipeline from identification and qualification through to handover to the sales team.
- Collaborate with the Private Client team to maximise cross‑sell and up‑sell potential.
- Develop a deep understanding of the Private Client proposition and market trends.
- Deliver agreed sales targets while maintaining high standards of client service, confidentiality and regulatory compliance.
Required profile
- Proven experience in sales, business development or strategic relationship management, ideally within Private Client insurance.
- Demonstrated ability to generate new business leads and deliver commercial results.
- Excellent networking, communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
- Proactive and pioneering approach to identifying and converting opportunities.
- Strong commercial awareness, organisational and pipeline‑management skills.
- Ability to build trusted relationships with high‑net‑worth individuals, corporate clients and professional introducers.
- Cooperative mindset with the ability to work across a large organisation.
- Understanding of FCA operating principles and Treating Customers Fairly.
- High levels of discretion, accuracy and confidentiality.
