Support Worker - Regulated Service, Dundee

About the role

The British Red Cross is recruiting a Support Worker for its Regulated Service in Dundee, supporting people in their own homes so they can regain independence and confidence while keeping their dignity. The role is permanent, with 16, 24 and 35-hour options, and pays £24,479 per year pro rata for roles under 35 hours. Travel around the area is required.

This is a regulated service: you must register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 3 months of starting, and sponsorship is not available.

Key responsibilities

• Provide practical and emotional assistance to people in their own homes
• Help with personal care such as bathing, dressing and medication support
• Support household tasks, meal preparation and shopping
• Promote independence and encourage people to keep their hobbies and interests
• Build positive relationships with service users, their families and other healthcare professionals
• Keep care documentation accurate and up to date

Required profile

• Right to work in the UK; sponsorship is not available
• Previous care experience, preferably in a healthcare or social care setting
• Compassionate, empathetic and committed to person-centred care, dignity and autonomy
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
• Ability to work independently, with initiative and reliability
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays
• A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are preferred but not mandatory
