Tax Senior – Hybrid Working – Chelmsford – Up to £45k

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Tax Senior to join a Top 20 firm in Chelmsford. Working hybrid, you will deliver high‑quality tax advisory and compliance services to a diverse client portfolio across multiple sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review corporate, partnership and individual tax returns in line with UK legislation and HMRC requirements.
• Conduct detailed tax analysis and provide strategic planning recommendations to optimise client tax efficiency.
• Lead the preparation and timely submission of VAT returns, PAYE and other statutory filings.
• Liaise with clients, external advisors and HMRC to resolve queries, respond to notices and support audits.
• Mentor junior team members and share technical tax knowledge.
• Stay up‑to‑date with changes in tax law and implement updates in client deliverables.
• Contribute to internal tax policies, checklists and technical documentation.

Required profile

• Qualified ATT accountant with at least 3 years’ experience in a reputable accounting or tax firm.
• In‑depth knowledge of UK tax legislation (Corporation Tax, Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax, VAT, PAYE).
• Proven ability to prepare and review complex tax returns and manage client compliance.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
