Vehicle Preparation Operative – Salisbury

About the role

The Ambulance Vehicle Preparation (AVP) team is looking for motivated individuals to join as Vehicle Preparation Operatives. You will ensure ambulances and equipment are ready to support frontline crews, contributing directly to patient safety and emergency response.

Key responsibilities

• Perform detailed cleaning and infection‑prevention procedures on ambulances.
• Inspect, test and verify medical devices and equipment.
• Restock consumables and medical supplies to required levels.
• Refuel vehicles and transport them between sites as needed.
• Document all preparation activities in line with Trust standards.
• Work a rotating roster covering days, nights, weekends and bank holidays.

Required profile

• Commitment to work a flexible 12‑hour shift pattern across a 7‑day week.
• Ability to follow prescribed procedures and maintain high standards of cleanliness.
• Strong attention to detail and a focus on patient safety.
• Willingness to develop a career within the Trust’s Fleet and Equipment team or broader NHS services.

Required skills

• Full, valid driving licence.
• C1 category licence preferred.
