Volunteer Chair for Age UK Stockport

About the role

Age UK Stockport is seeking a dedicated volunteer to serve as Chair of its Board. The role provides strategic direction for the charity, works closely with the Chief Executive, and represents the organisation across the community.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Board in setting and monitoring the charity’s strategic objectives.
• Collaborate with the Chief Executive to ensure effective governance and operational delivery.
• Represent Age UK Stockport at external events, with partners, the NHS, Council and the wider voluntary sector.
• Champion the charity’s mission to improve later‑life outcomes for residents of Stockport.
• Oversee board meetings, ensure compliance and drive high‑quality decision‑making.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership, executive or board‑level experience.
• Ability to provide strategic oversight and uphold good governance standards.
• Strong partnership‑building and influencing skills.
• Commitment to the values and mission of Age UK.
• Personal connection to Stockport – living, working or having grown up in the area.
