1:1 Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Hackney)

About the role

We are looking for a compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 4 pupil with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in a vibrant primary school in Hackney. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to ensure the child remains engaged, builds confidence, and meets individual learning targets.

Key responsibilities

• Provide dedicated one‑to‑one support throughout the school day.
• Deliver personalised interventions and adapt teaching strategies to the pupil’s needs.
• Encourage positive behaviour and promote independence in learning activities.
• Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor progress and adjust plans.
• Maintain accurate records of the pupil’s development and communicate updates to staff.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with children who have special educational needs (SEN), particularly ASD or ADHD.
• Patient, reliable, and enthusiastic about supporting children with complex needs.
• Ability to travel regularly to Hackney.
