Assistant Management Accountant

About the role

We are partnering with a fast‑growing, private‑equity backed manufacturing business in North Manchester to strengthen its finance function. As an Assistant Management Accountant you will report to the Finance Business Partner and support accurate financial reporting and strategic decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow reports.
• Perform balance‑sheet reconciliations and maintain the integrity of financial records.
• Produce and analyse monthly financial reports, highlighting trends and variances.
• Support month‑end and year‑end close activities.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns and assist with other statutory reporting requirements.
• Monitor costs, margins and departmental performance.
• Carry out inter‑company consolidation.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and reporting efficiency.
• Assist with ad‑hoc financial projects as the business grows.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification such as AAT, CIMA, ACCA or QBE.
• Previous experience in a Management Accountant or similar finance role.
• Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
• Strong organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Effective communication skills, able to explain financial information to non‑financial colleagues.
• Self‑starter with a forward‑thinking attitude.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Confidence working with financial systems.
