Associate Director of Procurement – New Hospital Programme

About the role

Join a transformational NHS project delivering a digitally enabled, future‑proof hospital. As Associate Director of Procurement you will provide strategic procurement leadership for the New Hospital Development Programme, ensuring commercial governance is transparent and aligned with national guidance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of the New Hospital Programme Procurement Strategy.
• Oversee procurement for construction, enabling works, equipment, digital systems, commissioning and transition planning.
• Ensure alignment with national commercial frameworks and provide expert advice to the Programme Board and Senior Responsible Owner.
• Develop contracting strategies that manage risk, deliver value and support programme milestones.
• Lead market engagement, tendering, evaluation, negotiation and contract award processes.
• Collaborate with Estates, Digital, Clinical, Finance and PMO teams to align procurement with programme sequencing.
• Represent the Trust in national commercial forums and report capital expenditure forecasts.
• Build and lead a high‑performing procurement team aligned to programme needs.

Required profile

• Highly experienced procurement professional with senior‑level strategic experience.
• Proven ability to work with senior internal and external stakeholders, including national bodies and construction partners.
• Strong commercial acumen and experience in complex, politically sensitive negotiations.
• Demonstrated leadership in building and managing high‑performing teams.
• Ability to balance competing priorities across construction timelines, equipment planning and digital integration.
