Bookkeeper

About the role

We are seeking a diligent Bookkeeper to join a boutique FMCG firm in Welwyn Garden City. Reporting directly to the Owner, you will manage the company’s financial records and support day‑to‑day accounting operations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain day‑to‑day bookkeeping using Excel and reconcile multi‑currency bank accounts.
• Oversee accounts payable, liaising with suppliers and workshops, and process sales invoices.
• Prepare cash‑flow statements, monthly profit and loss reports, and ad‑hoc financial analyses.
• Compile and submit quarterly VAT returns and management reports.
• Maintain accurate accounting records, including invoices, expenses, payments, and petty cash.
• Ensure compliance with legal, financial and data‑protection standards.
• Manage export and import documentation and administer the company pension scheme.

Required profile

• Professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or part‑qualified with relevant experience.
• Experience in UK financial compliance; FMCG experience is a plus but not mandatory.
• Strong knowledge of VAT Margin Scheme and import/export VAT regulations is advantageous.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel for data entry and reporting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Navision accounting software.
