Buyer – Sports Fashion & Outdoor

About the role

The Buyer will support JD Group’s omni‑channel retail strategy by selecting, negotiating and managing product ranges across sports fashion, outdoor and gym categories. You will work closely with senior buying, merchandising and brand partners to drive sales and expand the brand portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the buying function on relevant fascia and category.
• Attend appointments, product launches and trade shows, selecting and editing product assortments.
• Analyse weekly sales data with merchandising to propose actions for the upcoming week.
• Negotiate trading terms, distribution agreements and budgets with selected brands.
• Manage budgets and open‑to‑buy (OTB) for in‑season and forward planning.
• Present range proposals to Senior Buyers, Buying Director and Merchandising Director.
• Prepare and deliver performance presentations at trade meetings.

Required profile

• Extensive knowledge of JD’s store base and website.
• Strong confidence in product selection and decision‑making.
• Ability to work independently in a creative, trend‑led environment.
• Deep understanding of the sports fashion market and emerging trends.
• Highly numerate with strong budget forecasting and planning skills.
