Chef / Kitchen Assistant (BBQ & Smokehouse)

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Chef/Kitchen Assistant to join a vibrant BBQ restaurant and smokehouse in the heart of Bishop's Stortford. Working as the third member of a small kitchen team, you will support the Head Chef and Second Chef in all aspects of food preparation and daily kitchen operations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef and Second Chef with prep work for smoked and grilled meats.
• Operate American‑style smokers and an Argentinian charcoal grill under supervision.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness, hygiene standards and proper storage of ingredients.
• Help with stock checks, receiving deliveries and basic inventory tasks.
• Support service during early‑evening weekdays, Saturdays and lunchtime Sundays.

Required profile

• Previous kitchen experience or a strong passion for cooking and BBQ.
• Enthusiastic team player eager to develop skills in a fast‑paced environment.
• Eligibility to live and work in the United Kingdom.
