Chief Financial Officer – Property Development

About the role

Harper May Ltd is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer to lead the financial strategy of a fast‑growing, privately‑owned property developer operating across mixed‑use and residential schemes in the South East. Reporting to the CEO and Board, you will combine strategic planning with hands‑on oversight of cash, funding, project accounting and commercial analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a financial strategy that supports disciplined growth and maximises shareholder value.
• Manage funding relationships with investors and lenders, overseeing capital allocation and deployment.
• Lead project‑level financial management, including budgeting, cost tracking and margin analysis.
• Establish and maintain robust financial controls, audit readiness and regulatory compliance across the group.
• Provide the Board with monthly reporting, forecasts and commercial recommendations.
• Support acquisitions, partnerships and new commercial opportunities through financial due diligence.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
• Proven CFO or senior finance leadership experience in property, construction or similarly capital‑intensive sectors.
• Experience managing relationships with private equity, growth investors or institutional lenders.
• Confidence operating at Board level and communicating financial strategy in commercial terms.
• Strong leadership capability with a desire to build and shape a growing finance function.
