Co-op Developer – Cloud & Azure

About the role

Emera Energy is looking for a motivated student to join its Corporate IT team in Halifax for a 16‑week co‑op term (Sept 7 – Dec 18, 2026). You will gain hands‑on experience building and supporting cloud‑based applications on Microsoft Azure within an enterprise environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining Azure cloud applications.
• Develop and deploy solutions using Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure Storage, and Azure SQL.
• Support infrastructure and application deployments in Azure.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
• Write and maintain scripts in PowerShell, Azure CLI, or Python.
• Help monitor and troubleshoot using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
• Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and team meetings.
• Document technical solutions, configurations, and operational procedures.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Cloud Computing, or a related field.
• Strong desire to learn cloud technologies and DevOps practices.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.

Required skills

• Basic programming/scripting in C#, Python, JavaScript, or PowerShell.
• Familiarity with SQL and database concepts.
• Understanding of cloud fundamentals (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
• Experience with version control (Git).
• Exposure to Microsoft Azure services (App Services, Functions, Storage, SQL, DevOps, Monitor).
