Communications and Media Manager

About the role

The Communications and Media Manager will lead media relations and external communications for the ICB, ensuring timely, accurate responses to press enquiries and proactive stakeholder engagement. Reporting to the Communications and Media Senior Manager, the role shapes media strategy, builds journalist relationships, and supports partnership communications across the health system.

Key responsibilities

• Manage media relations and respond promptly to press enquiries, safeguarding the organisation's reputation.
• Develop and execute proactive media strategies and campaigns to raise awareness of key priorities.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists and external stakeholders.
• Coordinate partnership communications across system organisations for consistent messaging.
• Monitor media coverage, produce regular reports for senior leadership, and highlight trends and emerging issues.

Required profile

• Proven experience in communications, media relations or public relations, preferably within the health sector.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft clear, concise messages.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal and external partners.
• Understanding of NHS structures and public‑sector communication standards.
