Consultant Ecologist

About the role

We are seeking a Consultant Ecologist to join a specialist ecological and habitat management consultancy with over 20 years of experience. You will plan, manage and deliver professional ecological services across a variety of client projects, balancing office work, remote tasks and field surveys.

Key responsibilities

• Produce technical ecological reports, including impact assessments and mitigation strategies.
• Prepare and submit EPS licence applications.
• Coordinate and manage ecological surveys, field staff and project timelines.
• Conduct in‑field ecology and protected‑species surveys, including bats and dormice.
• Supervise and mentor 1‑2 assistant ecologists.

Required profile

• Relevant Bachelor’s degree (minimum).
• At least three years of industry experience with the ability to manage own projects.
• Strong communication, organisational and teamwork skills.
• Full driver’s licence.

Required skills

• EPS licence application preparation.
• BNG calculations.
• Protected‑species survey licensing (bats, dormouse).
• GIS mapping using QGIS.
• Bat sound analysis using Analook.
• CSCS card.
