Data Engineer – FinTech (Newcastle)

About the role

Join a leading FinTech firm in Newcastle as a Data Engineer, building and optimising data systems that make complex datasets accessible, reliable, and valuable for the business. You will develop high‑quality pipelines, enhance the central data platform, and support investment decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain data pipelines that integrate multiple internal and external data sources.
• Enhance and support the central data platform to ensure reliable information delivery.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to define data access, testing and usage strategies.
• Test, troubleshoot and improve the reliability and accuracy of data systems.

Required profile

• 3–6 years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a closely related role.
• 2:1 degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field, preferably from a Russell Group university.
• Direct experience in the hedge‑fund sector (essential).
• Strong ability to design and build data pipelines that integrate multiple data sources.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python with solid exposure to AWS or other cloud‑based data tools.
• Familiarity with Git and workflow/orchestration tools such as Airflow.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
